you may have noticed...

that I'm attempting to update the blog. You may have noticed that I am almost a year behind. You may have noticed that I'm not making many comments or observations about most of the pictures. It's not because I have nothing to say (I always have something to say), I'm just trying to plow through the backlog of pictures. It's kind of fun though, looking back and seeing that a year ago Evie was already trying to climb the freaking bookshelf (which she still does now...often) and that Will still makes the same fake angry face.

I have vague ideas about posting more, posting on a regular basis, but I've got a lot going on and a lot of catching up to do, so I'm not going to beat myself up if those ideas don't come to fruition right away.

Sunday

Will got some time out in the prison yard for good behavior.

There's a park near us that we've driven by hundreds of times but never gone in because it's not on our usual walking routes. Today we walked up there and met our friends. It was kind of a weird, sad little park - the playground equipment was covered in spiderwebs, but not even new spiderwebs, old, sad spiderwebs.

Anyway, while we were at this park, another little girl and her mom came, and the little girl was taking her shoes off and putting them down the slide, so Will decided to take his shoes off too. And I was all, "No, dude, you are wearing shoes at the park."
"But she's not!"
"I'm not her mommy, so I can't tell her what to do, but I am your mommy and I say that if you don't wear shoes at the park, we're going straight home."

He took one shoe off and we put it back on and then he went and sat by the wall and cried, because we are such mean parents, insisting that shoes be worn where there is lots of pokey, splintery wood chips.

Behind the wall is some sort of water treatment facility, with barbed wire that keeps the children out of the water treatment facility...or keeps the water treatment facility workers away from the children. One of those things.
