November 20-26, 2011

Sunday Nothing today.

Monday Bath Fight Club results:
Will threw a pink elephant at Evie.
Evie beat Will over the head with a plastic boat.

Winner: Evie

Tuesday This is one of my favorite pictures of the kids.

Wednesday We drove up to Gramma Jo's to get ready for Thanksgiving.

Thursday Thanksgiving!

Pre-meal spinning:

Pre-meal exercise:

Post-meal outdoors time:

Post-meal Gramma Jo snuggles:

Time for bed!

We all stayed at Gramma Jo's - Grandma Gail and Grandpa Bill came down, Uncle Kevan and Aunt Kat came down, and we all stayed for the weekend for some awesome family time.

Friday One of my favorite pictures of Evie.

Evelyn Monroe discovers the heater vent at Great Gramma Jo's house. She spent about 20 minutes standing on them and letting her skirt blow up, and then spinning and going, "Woooo!"

Will played some games with his grandmas.

Saturday Evie hung out with Grandpa Bill.

Then we went home and Will stole Lorne's glasses.

November 13-19, 2011

Sunday Evie doesn't understand how rocking chairs should work.

Monday Nothing today.

Tuesday We appear to have gone somewhere. I have no idea where though.

Wednesday Nothing today.

Thursday Nothing today either.

Friday I brushed Evie's hair out straight after her bath. It immediately went back to this after about ten minutes.

It's pretty awesome.

Saturday We watched another Husky game. Will was adorable.

And sleepy.

November 6-12, 2011

Sunday We went to a craft show for some of our cousins, but I didn't take any pictures (except for this creepy chicken). We also got rained on.

Monday Nothing today (though Lorne and I went on a date and enjoyed a Beer Week sour fest at an awesome noodle restaurant).

Tuesday Nothing today.

Wednesday We went on a walk. It looked jolly.

Thursday Nothing today.

Friday We met our friend Molly and her son Matt at Disneyland!

Saturday Will and Lorne played Angry Birds.

October 30 - November 5, 2011

Sunday We carved pumpkins, but the kids were mostly naked during this (just underwear/diapers), so I shall not share. Sorry.

Monday Halloween! Evie was a spider.

Will was a snowman.

They didn't go as all out as Will did in 2010, but we covered a lot of ground in our apartment complex.

Tuesday Nothing today. We probably had candy hangover.

Wednesday Will was sick. (Actual sick, not just candy hangover sick.)

Thursday Nothing today.

Friday Super Evie and her super dad.

Saturday It looks like we watched the Huskies today!

It also looks like we played "climb all the things."

October 23-29, 2011

Sunday I finished Will's hat.

It was a little big.

He'll just be able to wear it for forever.

Monday We seem to have gone to the park.

It looks like we had fun.

Tuesday Nothing today.

Wednesday Nothing today.

Thursday Nothing today.

Friday Nothing today.

Saturday I finished Will's Halloween costume.

He wanted to be a snowman, so we made him look like his favorite, Raymond Briggs' The Snowman

Beach Baby

Will started at a new preschool. Five days a week, three hours a day. So far he's loving it. But Evie? So far Evie has not been loving it. She misses her partner in crime. As we drive away she starts shouting, "BUDDY! BUDDY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" So that's been fun. At Will's old preschool, which was only two hours long and twice a week, Evie and I took long jog/walks and went to a nearby playground, then often picked things up at Target or the grocery store. But Evie will not be contained for such a long period of time for so many days a week, so I'm coming up with new things for us to do.

Yesterday we went to the beach.

Evie loves the ocean. My original plan was to go for a walk on the paved, non-sandy path, then to the playground. Evie saw the ocean and immediately started jumping up and down, screaming, "Ocean! Ocean! It's the ocean, Mommy!" I attempted to say, "Let's just walk to the playground today," but Evie would have none of it. She bolted to the sand. I took our shoes off and we headed to the water.

Do you want to have an awesome Evie-style experience at the ocean? This is what you need to do. 1) Go to the waterline. 2) Pick up a handful of glumpy sand in each fist. 3) Scream the following words at the ocean: "Come here ocean! I'm gonna get you!" 4) When a wave touches your feet, fling the sand at it in anger.

There was a nice covering of marine layer clouds when we got there, so I wasn't as concerned about not having sunblock with us at first. But then the marine layer burned off. Evie and I have the same very British skin - we get some freckles, but mostly we burn. No tanning here. We left after the sun had been out for about ten minutes (though we'd been at the beach for an hour). Evie only cried a little bit when I carried her away from the water and only tried to escape me to run back to the ocean twice on our walk back to the car. (This is significantly better than her reaction when we tried to leave the ocean on a visit to Newport, OR. That involved a tantrum and Lorne carrying her all the way up over the sand dunes to the parking lot. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! VEEVEE OCEAN! NOOOOOOOOOOO!")

Today when we got in the car after dropping Will off she said, "Okay, Veevee ocean now?" We had some errands to run, so I told her not today, but we would again soon. Then she started shouting, "BUDDY! BUDDY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

you may have noticed...

that I'm attempting to update the blog. You may have noticed that I am almost a year behind. You may have noticed that I'm not making many comments or observations about most of the pictures. It's not because I have nothing to say (I always have something to say), I'm just trying to plow through the backlog of pictures. It's kind of fun though, looking back and seeing that a year ago Evie was already trying to climb the freaking bookshelf (which she still does now...often) and that Will still makes the same fake angry face.

I have vague ideas about posting more, posting on a regular basis, but I've got a lot going on and a lot of catching up to do, so I'm not going to beat myself up if those ideas don't come to fruition right away.
